Tree pruning
Prune it right, and no more than needed
A well pruned tree goes unnoticed. That is the principle behind our work: do as little as possible, at the right moment, and cut where the tree will be able to close the wound.
We work from southern Luxembourg up to Mersch.
We prune lightly, respecting the physiology of the tree. In practice that means no topping, no quick cut across a trunk, no wound the tree will never heal. A topped tree comes back in badly attached water shoots: three years gained, twenty years of trouble.
Our climbers work on rope or from a platform, depending on access and height. In tight places (above a roof, along a power line, in an enclosed yard) we dismantle with rigging: sections are lowered on a winch rather than dropped.
The timing matters as much as the technique. Trees with heavy sap flow are pruned outside the rising sap, fruit trees in winter or after harvest depending on the species, and we avoid the nesting season. Sometimes we will tell you to wait six months: that is usually the best advice we can give.
Dismantling from above, over the rooftops: the trunk comes down section by section.
What this covers
Light and sanitary pruning
Removal of deadwood, crossing branches and badly attached limbs, keeping the natural shape of the tree.
Pruning with rigging
Sections lowered on a winch when nothing can be allowed to fall freely: over a conservatory, a wall or a driveway.
Dismantling in confined spaces
Inner courtyard, shared boundary, services running close by: the tree is taken apart piece by piece from the top.
Shrub pruning and care
Rejuvenating borders, pruning for flowering, reshaping specimens left to themselves.
How it works
The assessment
We come and look at the tree. Species, age, condition, access constraints: that is where we decide what has to be cut, and above all what must not be.
The quote
Written, itemised, free. It states the technique chosen, what happens to the waste and how long it will take. Nothing starts without your agreement.
Protecting the site
Marking out, sheeting over the borders, protection for roofs and vehicles. Pruning makes a mess: we plan for it.
The work itself
On rope or from a platform, depending on access. One person in the tree, one on the ground at all times. That is the rule, never a climber on their own.
The clear-up
Branches chipped or taken away, ground blown clean, gravel raked. The garden should be tidier when we leave than when we arrived.
The right season
Pruning is done outside the rising sap and outside the nesting season. Autumn and winter are our two main periods; summer remains possible for light pruning and emergencies.
